Worship

Although some people think of "worship" as just our singing, it includes much more than that. In one sense, worship is a way of life. We worship what we love. What we worship can sometimes be seen by how we live, how we spend our money, how we spend our time, or what matters most to us. God desires that each day would be lived in obedience and worship to him.

However, in another sense we could say that worship is something we do in a certain place and time when we come together as a church. The Bible teaches that every Christian should come together with other Christians weekly on Sunday in rememberance of the resurrection of Jesus. On this day we get a foretaste of heaven. We worship God by reading the Bible, praying, singing, and by hearing Christ speak to us by his preached word.

Preaching

Our pastor's goal in preaching is to say what the Bible says, exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, and lead God's people to cherish and obey him more fully. "For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God" (1 Cor. 1:22-24).

Usually, our pastor preaches through books of the Bible, a few verses at a time. Currently, we are making our way through the New Testament book of Philippians. Check out some current sermons here: Sermons

Singing

When we sing we are singing to God and to one another. We are singing to God in worship, for he alone is worthy of that kind of adoration and praise. But we are also singing to one another, so that we might be refreshed and encouraged by one another's joy in the Lord. We believe that God has gifted his church with a variety of musical styles, so it is our aim that our music would display the creativity of our Creator. However, we do have unity in the midst of diverse musical styles. The lyrics and theology of our songs serve as the unifying factor in our music. While we sometimes express our feelings to God in song, our goal is that we would mainly be singing about God... his care, his faithfulness, his power, his love, and his grace. Currently, we sing a blend of traditional hymns and modern praise music.

Praying

In our times of worship, we are usually led in prayer by our pastor or another leader in our church. In our prayer times, we ask God to bless us with his presence, give thanks to him for his graciousness, confess our sins, ask him for forgiveness, and make requests for his glory. It is our hope that as our leaders pray over us, each person present would be engaged in hearing and agreeing with their prayers.
